Stock Vector - Illustration of  face, male: 119409158\" width=\"313\" height=\"313\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-8446497d-eed3-4855-81ea-3ba827ce129e\">We\u2019ll start by composing in C major.&nbsp; The notes of a C major scale look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-6d895bb1-e624-4e74-a80e-efddd582eee3\">C<kbd>\u00af<\/kbd>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; D&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; E&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; F&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; G&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; B&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; C\u00ad<kbd>^<\/kbd><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-cde53df9-9aeb-4816-aa2b-891598465440\">(C<kbd>\u00af<\/kbd> indicates low C and C\u00ad<kbd>^<\/kbd> indicates high C)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-530f44bc-0540-45eb-8eec-b115e6dc5496\"><strong>Composition 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-600ddc3f-d63a-4b59-a3e2-bd116c9b2b0b\"><li>Assign the values that you can get from each possible dice roll to the notes in the scale.&nbsp; Make sure all values from 2 to 12 are assigned, so you may assign more than one value to a note.  (For example, either a 9 or a 10 could mean the note G)<\/li><li><strong>Suggestion<\/strong>:&nbsp; Assign the most probable rolls to C\u00af, E, G, and C\u00ad<kbd>^<\/kbd>\u00ad to get a composition most likely to sound like it was actually written in the key of C<\/li><li><strong>Suggestion<\/strong>:&nbsp; Assign one or more values to rests. (silence or pause).<\/li><li>Now we will write a 16-measure composition in 4\/4 time.&nbsp; Begin rolling the dice.&nbsp; Write down the results of each roll.&nbsp; Each roll represents a quarter note or quarter rest.&nbsp; 4 rolls make up a measure of music.&nbsp; That means you must roll and record the dice 64 times.<\/li><li>After you\u2019ve made and recorded each roll, write the corresponding note or rest beside each one.<\/li><li>Then, if you like, write the quarter notes and rests on a musical staff.
